bio
Maria Clara Valle is a woman musician of consciousness. Feminist, instrumentalist, composer, arranger, producer and musical educator, she has performed and given workshops in Brazil and in countries of Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia, throughout her 20-year career.
For 10 years she was part of Itiberê Orquestra Família, an experience that deeply marked her musical education.
Currently he is part of the international Maru quartet, the Jonas Hocherman Octeto, the ODU, an Afro-Brazilian inspired music collective, and the female string quartet cAis, which will soon release its first album.
With Luísa Lacerda, released in 2019 Beira do Mundo, EP in which the duo engenders a poetic tessitura between the strings of voice, guitar and cello.
In the quarantine, shared with the percussionist Diego Zangado, he formed an unusual duo whose repertoire mixes his compositions and interpretations of great classics.
Theater is one of her great passions. Besides having played many times on stage, she is on tour next to the Angolan writer Ondjaki with the shows Sobre o Mar e Chão de Novo. With Ondjaki and Jonas Hocherman, he composed the original soundtrack for the children's musical Ombela, which won the VI CBTIJ Children's Theatre Award in the original composition and musical direction categories.
With Essa Mulher, a collective of composers and musicians, she works to encourage reflection on women's musical practice through historical documentation and the production of shows and festivals. She is also the creator and curator of Som na Toca, a collective funding platform that promotes independent artistic projects.
